Take a look at what's happening at the garage of the #18 EGI Sprint car driven by Travis Welpott.

(February 6, 2006) The car has been stripped down, and the frame sandblasted ready to powder coat. New body panels are being fabricated, parts cleaned, bearings repacked preparing to reassemble the car when it comes back from the paint shop.

(February 16,2006) Frame is back from powder coating. Still working on body panels.

(February 18, 2006) Car owner Dave Gorman delivered a sheet of aluminum to cut out body panels. Dave will take all of the body parts back to his shop for painting.

(February 23) Put the front axle assembly together, brake lines, firewall and steering wheel.

(February 27) Put rear end in place, torque tube,steering linkage, radiator tray and a few other odds and ends.

(March 7) Bird cages, tosion bars and arms mounted. Radius rods, shocks, fuel filter and other miscellaneous parts installed

( March 14) Starting to look like a sprint car now! Dropped the motor in, pan hard bar installed, shocks attatched, jacobs ladder, squared the axles

(March 28) Waiting for panels and tailtank. Mounted seat, new shocks, new front tires, installed radiator ,maitenance on the motor. More remodeling of shop and

(April 7) Installed panels, tailtank, and hood. New seatbelts. Loaded trailer for test and tune on Saturday.

(April 11) Made it to the test session at Gas City Saturday. The car fired right up. Travis got a few hot laps in before a fuel problem developed. Turned out to be a problem with the fuel pump. Went through the car again, had the fuel pump rebuilt, replaced a broken shifter cable, cleaned the fuel filter and injectors. Decals are scheduled for Thursday night. Ready for Friday night at Gas City!
